EU debt recovery and European Payment Order in Romania
For EU cross-border claims, distinguish an unpaid invoice, an existing judgment and an insolvency claim. The procedure depends on jurisdiction, subject matter and evidence, not simply creditor nationality.
Request a Romanian claim reviewJurisdiction and document review
- European Payment Order: review the cross-border and monetary-claim requirements before selecting the procedure.
- EU judgments: provide the full decision and available certificates for Romanian enforcement review.
- Swiss creditors: Switzerland is outside the EU; a Swiss judgment or invoice requires a separate treaty and Romanian-law review. Do not infer European Payment Order eligibility from this regional guide.
- German suppliers: retain contracts, acceptance records and debtor objections.
- Polish freight creditors: identify the transport contract, delivery records and any CMR issue separately.
Prepare your creditor file
- Creditor and debtor registered names, company identification numbers and contact details
- Contract, orders, invoices and proof of delivery or services
- Outstanding amount, currency, due dates and payments already received
- Correspondence, acknowledgements and any objections to the debt
- Judgment or arbitral award, if already obtained, and accompanying certificates
- Opening judgment, insolvency notice and any stated filing deadline, if applicable
Sending an inquiry does not start proceedings or suspend deadlines. A judgment does not guarantee payment.
