Free calculator for judicial deadlines, statute of limitations and forfeiture: tax appeals, dismissal, car accidents, succession, payment orders — per the Civil Code and Code of Procedure.
Per art. 181 NCPC, day-based deadlines exclude both the starting day and the ending day. If the deadline falls on a non-working day, it extends to the next working day. Hour-based terms run immediately; year and month terms end on the corresponding day.
Limitation is suspended (art. 2532 Civil Code) for force majeure, minority without representative, family relations between parties. It is interrupted (art. 2537) by debt acknowledgment, lawsuit filing, arbitration request — after which a new full term starts.
Forfeiture deadlines (45-day dismissal appeal, 15-day enforcement contestation, 30-day appeal, etc.) are rigid: no suspension, no interruption. Missing them definitively extinguishes the procedural right. If the deadline expires in under 30 days, contact a lawyer urgently.
It is the extinction of the right to action if not exercised within a certain period. The general limitation period is 3 years according to art. 2517 Civil Code.
Different from limitation, forfeiture leads to the definitive loss of the right. It cannot be suspended or interrupted. Example: 45-day period for dismissal appeal.
If the deadline is approaching, urgently consult a lawyer to protect your rights.
